As future teachers this book will be very helpful and give good advice for how to get through to kids and be on their level so writing is not so intimidating for them. It will give you an understanding on what to look for in children and the abilities that they possess. The ideas in this book will be good to get in touch with because they can help you as a teacher to reevaluate the thoughts you had before on instruction and the learning of your students. It can also give you ideas on how to teach children to look at their own work and their classmates' and become self-assessors. In this book there are some good questions that you can ask your students to make their minds wander a little to get them thinking on a new level and taking their education into their own hands.

This book should be in our personal library of teachers' resources because it can be helpful to us when we are in a tight spot and are not sure what next steps we should take in getting our students to learn the things at hand. It is always a good idea to have resources close to us when we are drawing a blank and our colleagues are not sure what steps we should take for our next steps. An example is on pages 11 and 12 when the children are asked about writing and all have answers to why they can and need to write; however, they still do not understand what writing can really do for them or the impact that it can have in and on their lives, and what it can do to help them not only further their education, but to make them more successful in their lives.
